The First Workshop on Canada-Palestine Relations took place in Ottawa, Canada, in January 31st, 2016. The workshop, which took place at the Westin hotel in Ottawa, brought together a number of prominent Canadian personalities and public figures known for their expertise, creative ideas and leadership. It was organized in cooperation with the Palestinian delegates in Ottawa.
The morning session of the workshop included speeches delivered on behalf of the Secretary- General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Secretary- General of the Arab League (AL), the Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the State of Palestine.
In the afternoon session and with the participation of a number of Canadian MPs, writers, intellectuals, retired senators and Ambassadors, a three-hour discussion meeting took place. Participants exchanged ideas on issues related to the Middle East, the Middle East Peace Process, the role of Canada and need to promote the Palestinian Canadian relations.
The workshop meeting addressed several issues and highlighted the importance of the Palestinian cause to the Arab and Islamic World and stressed on the significance of improving the Palestinian- Canadian relations.
